Before your first injection
- Store unused pens in the refrigerator (2°C–8°C)
- Allow the pen to reach room temperature for 30 minutes before injecting
- Check the pen window — the solution should be clear and colourless
- Gather alcohol swab, sharps bin, and your injection log
Step-by-step: dosing the KwikPen
- Wash and dry your hands
- Pull off the cap and wipe the rubber seal with an alcohol swab
- Attach a new needle — twist on firmly and remove both caps
- Turn the dose selector until it clicks to your prescribed strength (2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg, or 15 mg)
- Confirm the dose in the pen window matches your prescription
- Choose your injection site — abdomen (avoid 5 cm around navel), front of thigh, or back of upper arm
- Press and hold the button until the click cycle completes (do not rush)
- Wait 10 seconds before removing the needle
