Why rotate injection sites?

Injecting the same spot repeatedly can cause lipohypertrophy — thickened fatty tissue that may affect how medication absorbs. Prescribing information for Mounjaro, Wegovy, Ozempic and Zepbound recommends rotating between the abdomen (avoiding 5 cm around the navel), thighs and upper arms, using a different spot each week.

Site Rotation Planner FAQ

Approved sites are the abdomen (at least 5 cm from the navel), front of the thighs, or back of the upper arms. Rotate to a new area each week.
